The area of laboratory occupies 5,483.33m2 for 1345 undergraduate medical students with a ratio of 4.1 m2/student. The figure has exceeded the UNESCO standard, namely, 0.7 m2/student; (Indonesia Medical Council, 2006: Medical Profession Education Standard). The reading area of the Faculty of Medicine is 722,89 m2 for 1345 undergraduate medical students with a ratio of 0.54 m2/student.
The Faculty of Medicine is equipped with laboratory facilities in the Pre-Clinical Department, while the Clinic Department uses the laboratory facilities of RSUD Dr. Soetomo, Universitas Airlangga Educational Hospital, and Universitas Airlangga Tropical Infection Hospital (RS Tropik Infeksi). The implementations of laboratory management (planning, procurement, utilization, maintenance, and repair) includes the use of laboratory are:
- The laboratory capacity within the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga is sufficient to provide services.
- The availability of facilities for the laboratory work implementation is satisfactory.
- Data of the totality and competence of the laboratory technicians are currently in the process of data collection in the data collection system.
The use of the infrastructures is the responsibility of the Vice Dean II, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga which is administratively coordinated by the Head of the Resource Department and is technically implemented by the Head of Sub-Division of the Facility and Infrastructure. For the lecture and tutorial rooms, in particular, the coordination of its use is assisted by the lecturers appointed as the coordinators of the lecture rooms. Infrastructure usage of the management information system has been developed by using data-based applications with adequate management in structuring and arrangement of space utilization.
